Dr Ian studied Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland graduating with honours in 1996 and is a member of the Australia and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists. He has a varied career including many years working in busy clinical practices both in Australia and abroad, volunteer work in developing countries, work on wildlife disease, and in veterinary epidemiology and biosecurity. Ian’s qualifications include a Master’s Degree and Diploma and he has made many contributions to advancing veterinary science through publication in peer-reviewed veterinary literature.
Dr Ian keenly pursues evidence-based veterinary medicine and is committed to continuous learning. He enjoys working with pet owners and the NDAH team to achieve good health outcomes for pets and pragmatic solutions for their owners. He enjoys getting to know people in the community and feels honoured to be able to support the bond with their pets.
Dr Ian settled on the Sunny Coast with his family in 2018 and they have grown a connection to the community through Scouts, schools, and enjoyment of the area’s natural environment. When not in the clinic, Dr Ian enjoys time with his family camping, hiking and boating, and tries to stay young through cycling.
