Growing up in North Queensland, Alex has always been surrounded by animals big, small (and feral) on her family’s cattle property “Tirrabella”.  Baptized at the local turf club during the annual Mount Garnet Races meeting, family involvement in country horse racing was a major influence from day dot. Too tall to be a jockey, a love of horses and problem solving propelled her into studying a Bachelor of Veterinary Science at James Cook University. In her final year of studies in 2018, Alex completed an externship at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington Kentucky, USA, where she developed a keen interest in equine reproduction and stud work. She has also completed additional postgraduate training in equine dentistry. After three years practicing in a mixed equine/small animal clinic in D’aguilar, SE Queensland, Alex made the move to the chilly Macedon Ranges in October 2021. When she’s not shoulder-deep in a mare she enjoys pilates, running and taking advantage of the nearby ski slopes in the winter months.
