DVM – BSc Psychology
Cedar is an American veterinarian from the state of Michigan. She knew she wanted to be a vet from a young age, but decided to complete a bachelor’s degree in psychology prior to starting her veterinary doctoral program. In vet school, she discovered a passion for travel, and found herself in Chiang Mai, Thailand working with endangered Asian elephants. She continued to work in Thailand upon graduation, teaching veterinary science to students in her early career. Shortly thereafter, Cedar took an opportunity to travel to Melbourne as a Work and Holiday maker, and her life hasn’t been the same since! She fell in love with the city (and its coffee). She did locum veterinary work at a variety of small animal practices in the region, and learned the ins and outs of life in Australia. She was sad to leave at the end of her year. Cedar took time to be close to family back in the USA, while working in clinical practice at a 24 hour small animal hospital, until she decided to take the leap and move back to Melbourne full time. In practice, Cedar is interested in both medicine and surgery. She loves to discuss preventative healthcare and to support pets’ wellbeing through diet and early disease detection. She prioritizes making visits to the vet an enjoyable, stress free experience. She is excited to be a part of you and your pet’s healthcare journey. In her free time, Cedar enjoys tampering with new recipes, learning about human wellbeing including diet, exercise, and mental health, and spending time outdoors hiking and camping. She has a purrfect Persian kitty named Ariel at home.
