Dr Sébastien Bauquier is an Associate Professor in Anaesthesia and Pain Management, at the Melbourne Veterinary School, the University of Melbourne, Australia. Sébastien received his DMV degree from the University of Liege, Belgium, in 2005. The same year he started an equine internship at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Montreal, Canada.
In 2009, Sébastien completed a three-year residency in veterinary anaesthesia at The Ryan Veterinary Hospital and New Bolton Centre, Veterinary Hospitals of the University of Pennsylvania, USA. Sebastien worked as a lecturer at the Ryan Veterinary before he was accepted in 2011 a position at the University of Melbourne.
Sébastien is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anaesthesia & Analgesia. His interests are in pain management (especially cats) and translational research. Sébastien has a PhD in Neuroscience and has ongoing research collaborations with St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, The Florey Institute Melbourne and the College of Optometry Melbourne. Sébastien lectures nationally and internationally on Veterinary anaesthesia and pain management. Sébastien is the President-Elect of the ACVAA, an examiner for ANZCVS and the chair of the Residency Selection and Training Committee at the Melbourne Veterinary School.
Sebastien now lives in Geelong with his wife Jenni and their two sons Julien and miles. Sebastien has never lost his French accent.
