My veterinary career began in Mackay in early 1997, soon after graduating with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (honours) from the University of Queensland. I had intended to stay for just a year, but am still here. In 2019, I was very fortunate to join the lovely team at Mackay Veterinary Clinic.
Prior to becoming a vet, I worked in human health. Having grown up amongst a variety of animals on a western Queensland sheep station, it wasn’t until I became a veterinarian that I really found my “calling”. I enjoy helping people and their pets, and I find all aspects of veterinary science intensely interesting. Continuing education has always been a committment for me, and I have completed year long distance education courses from the University of Sydney in each of Dermatology, Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine.
In my leisure time, I enjoy bushwalking, playing tennis, swimming and cycling with family and friends. I also enjoy time spent at home with my husband, our son, Doberman/Kelpie X Heidi and three chooks.
